Yes, there are MANY substances legally added to food in the USA, and it's a
damn shame.
It gets expensive to attempt to eat mostly "Organic" food, and of course
this does nothing for take-out, restaurant fare, or meals with friends.

May the dishonest jerks in the food-chemical industry ( not everyone - I
blame the executives, not the workers ) exit this worldly stage with the
cancer they deserve, after realizing their horrible mistakes. [1]

[1] PS: This is an honest sentiment, but I do not espouse nor support
vengeance.  It is a deadly, heart-destroying attitude, and does nothing to
heal our own loss.  (But I do think that retroactive birth control (quick &
quiet elimination) for seriously criminally-minded sociopaths who
regularly hurt other folk is a good and necessary thing for society.)
