[Meatloaf] Hurricane Helene's Extreme Flooding - 13 to 30 Inches of Rain

Amidst all the news of extreme flooding in NC and nearby states, I wondered
how much rainfall occurred.  The numbers are startling: *13 to 30 inches of
rainfall in 2 days.!*

(For comparison, the 2013 megaflood in Boulder County was "only" about 9
inches in the first 24 hours. And that amount doubled over the next 6 days.

When Hurricane Helene made landfall on Thursday night along the Big Bend
section of Florida's Gulf coast, heavy rain was already falling in western
North Carolina. A stalled front pulled moisture well to the north of
Florida starting late Wednesday. The rain then continued through Friday
when the storm tracked to the north resulting in devastating flooding
across communities all around our mountains.

Here are the areas that saw over a foot of rain based on reports from the
National Weather Service:

   - Busick 30.78"
   - Spruce Pine  24.12"
   - Hendersonville 21.96"
   - Seven Devils: 21.47"
   - Davidson River 18.02"
   - Asheville (NC Arboretum) 17.31"
   - Mountain Home 17.09"
   - Blowing Rock: 16.91"
   - Guion Farm 16.90"
   - Candler 16.18"
   - Tryon 15.78"
   - Grandfather 15.42"
   - Salem 15.30"
   - Highlands 14.86"
   - Banner Elk 14.85"
   - Sparta: 14.35"
   - Mills River 13.26"
   - Swannanoa 13.21"
